Queen Alia International Airport
Airports
Leveraging the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s strategic geographic location and thriving touristic potential, complemented by a growing network of direct flights to numerous destinations worldwide, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has steadily emerged as a premier regional center for leisure, business and medical travel.
March 2013 marked the momentous inauguration of the new QAIA Terminal Building – located 35 kilometers from the heart of the capital Amman – under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, raising annual passenger capacity from the initial 3.5 million to 9 million passengers. Nearly three years later, in September 2016, the second phase of the Terminal Building was launched under the patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, further bolstering annual passenger capacity to up to 12 million passengers.
As the Kingdom’s prime gateway to the world and a proud national landmark, QAIA embodies the longstanding values of hospitality and warmth Jordanians have become renowned for, instilling in local, regional and international passengers a genuine notion of safety, familiarity and belonging, and giving them a sense of home away from home from the moment they enter the premises. With the ease of its navigation, the premium standards of its services and the authenticity of its welcome, QAIA presents passengers – both inbound and outbound – with a unique travel experience at all touchpoints, whilst connecting them with major cities across the globe.
As testament to its steadfast commitment to excellence, QAIA was granted the title of ‘Best Airport by Size and Region: Middle East’ for airports serving five to 15 million passengers for the second consecutive year and the eighth time in its history based on the 2023 ASQ Survey. Moreover, QAIA attained a prestigious 4-Star Airport Rating in March 2024 following its first-ever participation in the SKYTRAX World Airport Audit, confirming that staff service or product standards meet a good quality level. QAIA also successfully renewed Level 3 of ACI World Airport Customer Experience Accreditation in January 2024 – acknowledging its focus on continuous improvement in customer experience and services, in line with recommended practices and industry standards.
Meanwhile, QAIA has been dedicated to conserving the environment, becoming the first carbon-neutral airport in the region, as well as the first in the Middle East and second in ACI Asia-Pacific to achieve Level 4+ ‘Transition’ of the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program until May 2025. QAIA was also acknowledged by ACI Asia-Pacific as one of only 12 airports in the
Middle East and Asia-Pacific to receive the Green Airports Recognition 2022 for airports serving 5 to 15 million passengers, while securing Gold recognition for its dedicated efforts in transitioning towards a sustainable, low-carbon future.
Remaining steadfast in its commitment to delivering a distinct and enjoyable travel journey, QAIA stands as a symbol of Jordan’s dedication to shaping the future of air travel – not only bridging distances, but also exemplifying the spirit of a nation that welcomes the world with open arms.
